Student Programmes
The Education Programme of the Jewish Taskforce Against Family Violence (JTAFV) is an
exciting initiative that recognizes the importance of prevention in reducing domestic violence in
our community. The Education Programme is managed by two experienced teachers who
develop appropriate curriculum and tailor it to suit the culture and sensitivities of each of the
Jewish day schools. Facilitators are then brought in to the schools to deliver the relevant
educational programme. At this point Programmes have been developed for Year 9 and Year
11, with plans to expand to include more year levels.
If you would like to have someone present a programme in your school or crèche, please

Youth Leaders Training
Youth Leaders are a very special part of children’s lives. In our community, in particular, Jewish
Youth Groups are a wonderful and important part of a child’s life. With this recognition of the
special relationship Youth Leaders have with children, we realized the importance of creating
awareness amongst them of child abuse and domestic violence. The leaders themselves also
expressed a desire to know more and be better equipped to help children in these situations.
The Jewish Taskforce Against Family Violence (and how to develop appropriate protocols to
manage these situations. We also discuss the important issue of appropriate conduct for
leaders and the children within a youth group to protect the safety of all involved.
In conjunction with these workshops we have produced brochures for leaders to always be able
to refer back to. JTAFV) has developed a workshop for youth leaders on child abuse. It covers
what domestic violence and child abuse is, how to recognize a child in this situation, how to
respond to a disclosure of abuse by a child.
The workshops have been a great success so far, and in fact have already helped both leaders
and children who have been faced with situations of domestic violence or abuse.
We are available to present these workshops and welcome your enquiries.
